Series consists of a 562 page typescript history of the Canadian Wildlife Service entitled "Lively: A History of the Canadian Wildlife Service." It covers the years 1909 to 1969 and deals less with administrative and legislative developments than with field and research work with individual species of birds and mammals. These records were produced by Harrison F. Lewis, formerly chief of the Wildlife Division, working on contract and reporting to the Director-General of the Canadian Wildlife Service.

Canadian Wildlife Service. Office of the Director General : In 1973 the Department of the Environment was reorganized into four major parts: Planning and Finance Services, Fisheries and Marine Service, Environment Protection Service, and Environment Management Service, each under an Assistant Deputy Minister. The Canadian Wildlife Service was one of four directorates under the Environment Management Service. With this improved stature, Dr. John S. Tener, the Director of the Canadian Wildlife Service since 1968, became a Director-General. In 1974 A.G. Loughrey became Director-General of the Canadian Wildlife Service. RG109 General Inventory
