Canada. Canada Post. Atlantic Region : The Atlantic Division was one of 9 divisions introduced in 1983, replacing the regions and districts. The predecessors of this division included the Atlantic Region, one of four regions established in 1971. It contained the following districts: Newfoundland District (St. John's); Nova Scotia District (Halifax); and New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island District (Saint John). St. John's District, Halifax District and Saint John District operated as independent districts from 1952 to 1971. The Maritimes Region had its headquarters in Moncton from 1947 to 1963.
