Series consists of the records of the Coulonge and Crow River Boom Company Ltd (CCR). The CCR was established in 1895 under Quebec provincial legislation. Based in Hull, Quebec, the company was mandated to acquire or construct works necessary to improve navigation and facilitate the transmission of timber, lumber and pulpwood down the Coulonge and Crow rivers. The founding members of the company included the Hon. George Bryson, Alexander Barnett, Alexander Fraser, J.R. and C.J. Booth, William C. Edwards, James and David Gillies, William Mason and Hugh F. McLachlin. Although technically a separate company, the CCR was operated and managed by the ICO throughout its existence.

In 1981 the name of the company was changed to Compagnie d'Estacades des Rivières Coulonge et Crows Ltée. The lumber business, however, was declining rapidly and by 1990 the company had recreated itself as Hydro-Pontiac Inc., producing hydro-electric power on the Coulonge and Black rivers.

The series is primarily comprised of the administrative correspondence of the CCR. This correspondence is divided into letterbooks of outgoing correspondence, and files of incoming letters, invoices and receipts. The letterbooks discuss administrative matters specific to the CCR, but also contain copies of financial records and annual financial statements. The incoming correspondence contains letters and invoices from the various lumber companies regarding the transport of logs and repairs to facilities. Some of this correspondence also pertains to the Quinze Rapids Improvement Co. After 1946 correspondence relating the CCR was incorporated into the administrative correspondence of the ICO. Additional records in this series include reports on works and improvements along the Coulonge River.
