This sub-series consists of files arranged under two main headings: Prime Minister's Signature files and Special Messages and Thank-You Letters from the Prime Minister. Within the Prime Minister Signature files, material is further divided into PM's signature - Original and PM's Signature by Arm Machine. Material consists of copies of replies sent by the PM to correspondents. Some were personally signed and some were signed by the arm machine. Often a copy of the incoming correspondence is attached to the reply.

Within PM's Signature - Original files there is a chronological series, 1989-1993, and an alphabetical series, 1991-1993. Both contain copies of out-going responses. Included are drafts of letters with handwritten changes and comments by the Prime Minister. Correspondents include prominent people such as foreign heads of state, Canadian provincial premiers, federal cabinet ministers, other politicians and diplomats.

PM Signature by Arm Machine files include messages and thank-you letters not always accompanied by written requests, and replies to correspondence prepared for the PMO by the PCO or the Federal-Provincial Relations Office (FPRO).

The Special messages and Thank You Letters from the Prime Minister consist of congratulatory messages, letters of condolence, other supportive messages and thank-you letters prepared by the PMO staff for the Prime Minister. Some incoming correspondence including requests for special messages, and Christmas cards.
