Air Canada. Sales and Services Department : In 1955 the Traffic Department, headed by a General Traffic Manager, became known as the Sales Department. By 1970 the Sales Department seems to have evolved into the Marketing Department. In 1973 there were two separate departments: Marketing and Sales and Services. In 1976 the Sales and Services Department became part of the Marketing, Sales and Services Department (there is still a separate Marketing Department) The Sales Department, circa 1967, had the following responsibilities: "to forecast market requirements for the present and proposed new services; to plan and conduct the sales program of the Company in such a manner as to produce optimum revenues, while rendering the highest standard of service to the public consistent with sound economic practice." In 1967 the department was headed by a Senior Vice-President, W. Gordon Wood. Condensed History of the Company.
