Halifax view entitled: "The Governor's House and St. Mather's Meeting House in Halles Street, also looking up George Street, Shews part of the Parade and Citadel Hill at Halifax in Nova Scotia". Work by Richard Short (ca. 1744-1777), engraved by François-Antoine Aveline (1718-1780).
Two portraits entitled "L'Honble. D.B. Viger" and "Louis Joseph Papineau". The Viger portrait is by C. Hamburger (active 1832), printed by Charles J. Hullmandel (1789-1850). The Papineau portrait is by Achille Fréchette (active 1877-1887).
Print entitled "Montreal, Seat of Lord Amherst of Holmsdale". Work attributed to I. Royce (active ca. 1780).
This is a retrospective accession. The information about it is found in RG 37 "C" Series, Volume 335, File 1922-90, in the Picture Division Accession Book 1921-1931 (Jan. 22, 1923 entry) and in the Artist Files 705-38 item II-14a, 706-249, 706-250.
The Montreal print and the Viger portrait have a catalogue date 22/1/23. The other works may also share this catalogue date.
