In 1833, an Ontario blacksmith named Samuel Lount finds his hopes for a peaceful life for his family threatened by a corrupt and twisted colonial administration. As a dedicated member of the pacifist religious sect known as the Children of Peace, Lount becomes a man torn between his dreams of peace and his passion for justice. While Lount is helping a friend who is being persecuted by the local government, he is befriended by the fiery political rebel William Lyon Mackenzie and is slowly drawn into the world of radical politics. Lount is tempted from his religious isolation to run for Parliament, but when political solutions fail, the only recourse is revolution. He becomes a leader of the 1837 Mackenzie Rebellion and is subsequently tried and hung for treason. <99mn>Language:EnglishNotes: -
