Sub-series consists of records of the Collective Bargaining Surveys Section collected by a later section of the Branch. These records include some of the earliest work of the Department of Labour in this area. Collected here are schedules of Railway per diem rates and working conditions, plus related papers, 1900-1927, and correspondence, memoranda and press clippings, 1902-1934, including papers on the McAdoo Arbitration and Award, 1918-1920.

Canada. Dept. of Labour. Collective Bargaining Section : The Collective Bargaining Surveys Section was responsible for monitoring the national situation with respect to collective bargaining. The Section maintained an extensive "up-to-date" file of collective agreements for ready reference in providing data for administrative purposes and in dealing with a number of enquiries from companies, unions, and the general public.
