Sub-series consists of a sampling of statistical survey material compiled by the Economics and Research Branch of the Department. The material includes statistics on the numbers and percentages of female employees in industries employing more than 10 per cent women; employment changes by industry (both sexes); major collective bargaining establishments in 1957; copies of labour surplus reports from B.C.; monthly summaries of employment conditions for various B.C. centres; charts showing average hourly and weekly earnings in mining and durable manufacturing; research project reports on the training of skilled and technical manpower; draft reports on output, labour and capital in the Canadian economy. There is also a sampling of wages and hours of work statistics relating to the Canadian shipbuilding industry, paint and varnish industry and to the restaurant business in Canada for the years 1940-1951.
