Canada. Dept. of Labour. Press Clipping Unit : Since its inception in 1900 the Department of Labour has maintained a collection of newspaper clippings on labour and labour-related topics. The body responsible for undertaking this task has been variously known as the Press Clipping Bureau, Press Clipping Unit, Press Clippings Division, and Press Clipping Service. By 1978 the Press Clipping Service was attached to the Library Services Section and was responsible for preparing a daily compilation of relevant clippings from the more important national newspapers for distribution to the Minister and senior officials of the Department. At that time clippings older that five years were stored at the Public Archives. Beginning in the autumn of 1977, the service compiled a weekly "Regional Supplement" of clippings containing articles from daily newspapers from the five regions of the Department. 1978 Labour Canada Annual Report, p.34
