General note:

Two watercolours showing the newly-constructed Union Suspension Bridge over the Chaudiere Falls between Bytown and Hull. The designs were completed by Frederick Rubidge (1806-1897), a surveyor and architect employed by the Board of Works for the United Canadas.

Custodial history:

Acquired before 1925 as a transfer from Public Works records. These records were originally created for the Board of Public Works of the United Canadas, which was reorganized into the Department of Public Works in 1846.
