Sub-series consists of general operational records created and/or maintained by the Duck Lake Agency. The sub-series includes subject files which were originally maintained in Shannon File format. Such files deal with a wide variety of subject matter, ranging from mundane administrative detail to issues such as lands, membership, annuities, residential schools. The following are examples only of the type of material found in each volume: logs, grist and saw-mills, scrip, medical affairs and communications, 1888-1897 (Vol. 1593); buildings, employees, treaty payments and boarding schools, 1890-1897 (Vol. 1594); admission to and discharge from schools, medical affairs and employees, 1900-1915 (Vol. 1595); farming, schools, fisheries, medical services, membership, 1885-1900 (Vol. 1596); livestock, Almighty Voice, administration of the Montreal and Lac la Ronge bands, schools, miscellaneous matters such as pass regulations, liquor on reserves and circular letters, 1891-1909 (Vol. 1597); reports concerning Kinistino Band, surrenders of Beardy's band lands, rations, membership, health, equipment and supplies, criminal cases, detailed specifications for school buildings, 1900-1920 (Vol. 1598); membership, anuities, supplies, game laws, and buildings, 1900-1911 (Vol. 1599); as well as circular letters, 1897-1912 (Vol. 1600); an agent's diary, 1881; agency inventories, 1887-1905 (Vol. 1601). Note that restricted portions of files in volumes 1595 and 1599 were not filmed with the open material.
Also included are files related to the following subjects: matrons reports concerned with health matters, 1912-1924 (Vols. 9112, 9117); surveys, surrenders, leases, fencing and roads, 1917-1930 (Vol. 9114); trapping, hunting and fishing, 1917-1930 (Vol. 9115); school reports, 1914-1919 (Vol. 9116); general administration, 1913-1930 (Vol. 9113); and agent's monthly reports, 1918-1923 (Vol. 9117).
Records pertaining to the following bands under the Duck Lake Agency: Sandy Lake, Muskeg Lake, One Arrow, Nut Lake, Okemasis, John Smith, James Smith, William Twatts, Beardy and Kinistino Bands are found in volumes 11535-11537, 11539-11541, 11543-11544, 11557, 11561-11562. The files relate to most aspects of the agency's responsibilities including general administration, annuity, membership, lands and schools. A census report for the Duck Lake Agency is found in volume 11562.
