The agency was created in 1956 through the splitting into two of the responsibilities of the Stuart Lake Agency. The agents were W.J. Desmarais (1957-1964) and R.M. McIntyre (1964-1969+). The Burns Lake Agency was re-united in 1968 with the Stuart Lake Agency to form the Lakes District office.
