Series consists of records relating to the social issues that have concerned the Canadian Home and School Federation. The "Home influences" files include topics in parent and family life education while the "Media and Children" files document the Federation's response to public dismay at the negative effects of the media, in particular television, on children's view of the world and behaviour. There is also material pertaining to social issues and government policies like federal family allowances, social welfare, corporal punishment, the Young Offenders Act and the Rights of Children. Such issues have been the subject of study and lobbying by the Federation. In addition, the series contains some files on international subjects including the International Youth Year, International Year of the Family, and world peace and security.
