St. Lawrence River Joint Board of Engineers : The Joint Board of Engineers was created by an Order of Approval issued by the International Joint Commission on 29 October 1952 in response to applications from the governments of Canada and the United States. It was further confirmed by an exchange of notes between the two governments of 12 November 1953. The Canadian Section of the Board was formally constituted by Order in Council P.C. 1953-1956, dated 10 November 1953. The Board was formed to co-ordinate Canadian and American activities in developing potential hydro-electric power sites along the International Rapids Section of the St. Lawrence.
