This series contains several files on the change-over of government from Liberal to Progressive Conservative in 1984, and two log books from McLean's office for the years 1990 and 1991. A substantial number of files, perhaps more than a third of this series, deal with women's issues, reflecting McLean's responsibility for Status of Women. There are several files of early speech material, as well as material on external affairs (he was PC Party critic for External) and disarmament. Other early career files deal with the role of a Christian in politics and with capital punishment. A substantial block of material is an almost complete run of McLean's Reports from Parliament to his constituents.

The Status of Women files are largely informational material and xeroxes of press clippings. However, for the sake of utility, and because this issue had reached a contentious level of prominence by the mid-80's, these dossiers were retained. They do provide very useful research files on the U.N.-sponsored "Decade of Women" Conference held in Nairobi in 1985, attended by Rev. McLean.
