This sub-series consists of correspondence; memos; clippings; reports; position notes and updates; cabinet information; press releases; information from McMillan's office and corporate proposals; brochures; and promotional literature. The files deal with the building of the fixed link joining Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) to the mainland. They provide detailed background information on the issue of the link, as well as capture the programs offered to build it by three conglomerates: Nova Construction Company; Northumberland Bridge Builders; and Omni System. The files also reflect the political background to the building of the causeway, such as representations and interventions by federal and provincial politicians from the maritime provinces on this issue, as well as the cabinet's thinking and decision-making on the causeway.
