Some of the files in this sub-series contain mail-ins, publications of various departments as they kept the environment minister informed of developments in their areas. Much of the material is federal-level, but there are also provincial-level files, reflecting the federal departmental-provincial relationship. While some files are print/near-print heavy, others consist largely of correspondence and memos, reflecting the interconnections between minister's staff and departmental staff. These files reflect the political and environmental issues of the day, such as acid rain and ozone-layer depletion. They are also useful in understanding how government policy was formulated, and to what degree government promises were kept. This sub-series demonstrates how the minister/his staff were kept informed of governmental and portfolio-specific issues, and how environmental policy was formulated and implemented.
