Sub-series documents the activities of Fireside Fabrics (Canada) Limited through corporate minutebooks and plant and finanical records. The minutebooks reveal John Roman's influence in the company before it was acquired by Dominion Textile. Subject files document plant production after the company was acquired by Dominion Textile. Financial records include financial statements, ledger and accounts, most of which pertain to the period after Dominion Textile acquired the company. Sub-series also consists of two sub-sub-series related to the records of Halifax Corduroy Limited and Exquisite Knitting Mills (Canada) Limited.

Fireside Fabrics (Canada) : Fireside Fabrics (Canada) Limited was incorporated in 1952 to manufacture corduroy fabric. A Montreal-based firm, Fireside was controlled by John Roman. Roman expanded Fireside's position in the Canadian textile industry by acquiring Exquisite Knitting Mills (Canada) Limited in 1962, and Halifax Corduroy Limited in 1967.

In 1970, Fireside Fabrics built a new plant in Montreal to consolidate the production of corduroy fabric in Canada. Shortly thereafter, Roman sold Fireside Fabrics and its subsidiaries to Dominion Textile. Fireside Fabrics remained an affiliate company of Dominion Textile for five years until its operations were integrated into Dominion Textile's Apparel and Consumer Goods Division.
