Series consists of minutes from a wide variety of Centennial Committees including the National Centennial Administration, National Committee, National Centennial Committee, National Conference, the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Management Committee, Program Development Committee, Interdepartmental Committee and the Canadian Centenary Council.
Committees were an important part of the work of the Centennial Commission, often making policy decisions which affected all levels of the organization. Some examples of the committees involved in this process include the Board of Directors, whose responsibility was to decide the major administrative and programme policies of the Commission, enact by-laws governing the Commission's operations, set objectives for the Commission and provide budgetary controls; the National Conference on the Centennial of Confederation, which considered and discussed plans and programmes relating to the Centennial celebration in Canada; the Inter-departmental Committee which was responsible for the co-ordination of the Centennial program of departments and agencies of the federal government and proposed Centennial plans for non-governmental organizations; the National Committee on the Centennial of Confederation which was a co-ordinating body for provincial centennial committees or corporations and the Canadian Centenary Council which acted as a clearing house and information centre for those seeking Centennial programs.
