The fonds consists primarily of minute books and labour relations committee negotiations, agreements and contracts. Also included are By-Laws, financial records, correspondence, published materials and photographs. The records document the Association's attempts to further its objectives on behalf of employers of lithographers in Canada particularly from 1914 to 1968.

Canadian Lithographers Association : The Canadian Lithographers Association was established in Toronto, Ontario in 1882 as an organization of employers of lithographers. After initial successes in controlling wages and prices, it was nearly defunct by 1913. The Association was revived in 1914 at the insistence of three major printers: Rolph & Clark Ltd., Stone, Ltd., and Howell Lithographing Co. after they had bought out the firm of Hough Lithographing. F.J. Howell was the Association's President at the time of its reorganization. In protecting the interests of commercial lithographers, the Association's main goals were to regulate price competition, to control labour costs, to provide leverage with suppliers, and to act as the trade's political lobby.

With the introduction of new computerized technologies in the 1960's the Association began to decline in importance. By the late 1970's, the Canadian Lithographers Association ceased to function.
