Sub-series consists of field notebooks of botanists John Macoun (1881-1912), James M. Macoun (1884-1920), M.O. Malte (1920-1933), A.E. Porsild (1926-1970) and W.K.W. Baldwin (1947-1970), who were in the employ of the Geological Survey of Canada and later, the National Museums of Canada. The field notebooks were kept by the botanists during their trips to various regions of the country. While they contain much scientific information, some of the early notebooks will prove of interest for their description of the terrain and animal life in the areas under study.
