The film begins with quarter-final action which saw Montréal defeat Detroit, Philadelphia defeat Buffalo, Boston defeat Chicago, and Toronto defeat the New York Islanders. In the semi-finals, Montréal defeated Toronto and Boston defeated Philadelphia. The Stanley Cup finals featured Montréal and Boston in a hard physical series, which Montréal won in six games. Lots of action around the nets of Ken Dryden and 37-year-old Gerry Cheevers who earned a shut-out in game three. In game two Guy Lafleur scored the winning goal in overtime, and in game four Bobby Schmautz did the same thing for Boston to tie the series. There are interviews with several players, including Guy Lafleur, Yvan Cournoyer, Larry Robinson, Brad Park and Rick Middleton. Also included is a sequence with referee Andy Van Hellemond who can be heard talking with Gerry Cheevers, as well as calling penalties and discussing calls with other officials. Mario Tremblay's first goal of the playoffs turned out to be the series winning goal as well. Larry Robinson won the Conn Smythe Trophy. Montréal captain Yvan Cournoyer is seen holding the Stanley Cup with National Hockey League President John Ziegler. <27mn>
