The documentary is linked by a strong musical commentary by the Thunderbird Sisters, an accapella group from the Shinnecock nation on Long Island, New York. Women featured in the video are: poet and storyteller Lenore Keeshig Tobias; Evelyn Bomberry, a clothing designer from the Six Nations Reserve; Maxine Noel, Sioux artist; and the poetry of Pauline Johnson (1961-1913), one of Canada's first published Native women artists. The Spirit of Turtle Island Festival, the starting point for the documentary, was held in Toronto in August, 1985.Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
