Audio recording of television program presented by United Steelworkers of America in Sudbury, Ontario. Report by Murray Cotterill on success of raids on two International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers locals by affiliates of the Canadian Labour Congress, the National Union of Public Service Employees on municipal employees in Port Colborne, and the Oil, Atomic and Chemical Workers on employees of the Natural Gas Co. in Dunville, Ontario. Cotterill reports the only Mine Mill local left in southern Ontario is the 42 "girls" employed by the Dunville Telephone Co. Interview with Bob Carlin, former board member of Mine Mill in charge of organizing Sudbury in 1942. Carlin repeats his challenge to Bud DeVito or his ¨masters¨ to a debate. He alleges that the creation of Canadian autonomy within Mine Mill was an attempt to protect the Canadian section of the union from Taft-Hartley charges in the United States and that Mine Mill District 2 was established to create political patronage jobs. Carlin repeats Steel challenges to Mine Mill to release accurate information on number of members it has, financial statement. He says he is authorized by Steel to offer to pay expenses for a hall, etc. to debate with Mine Mill spokesman.
