Canada. Forces armées canadiennes. Commandement de la force terrestre : Ce commandement avait été créé en octobre 1965 en tant que la Force mobile; il avait son quartier général à Saint-Hubert (Québec) et des bases à Gagetown, à Montréal, à Valcartier, à Petawawa, à London, à Shilo, à Suffield et à Calgary. Dans 1995 la Force mobile a été retitrée Commandement de la force terrestre et des plans ont été faits pour le transfert 1997 de son quartier général vers Ottawa. La mission de la force est la suivante : fournir une force polyvalente prête à combattre pour la défense du Canada; collaborer avec les Forces armées américaines à la défense de l'Amérique du Nord; appuyer les engagements du Canada envers l'OTAN; et maintenir une force prête à toute éventualité pour les Nations Unies ou des opérations de maintien de la paix. La Force mobile détient aussi le commandement de la Milice et des Réserves aériennes. Elle assume les responsabilités régionales des Forces canadiennes au Québec, y compris la liaison avec le gouvernement provincial et l'entraînement des cadets dans la région.
À ses débuts, la Force mobile comprenait trois brigades : le 1er Groupement de combat (à l'origine le 1er Groupe-brigade de l'infanterie du Canada/No. 1 Combat Group [1 CIBG] à Calgary, le 2e Groupement de combat (à l'origine le 2e Groupe-brigade de l'infanterie du Canada/No. 2 Combat Group [2 CIBG]) à Petawawa, et le 5e Groupement de combat à Valcartier. Le Régiment aéroporté du Canada, ainsi que le Centre des opérations aéroportées du Canada et la << l Field Support Services Unit >>, tous basés à Edmonton, faisaient partie du commandement de la Force mobile. La Force mobile recevait du soutien technique du 10e Groupement aérien tactique, qui avait son quartier général à Saint-Hubert et des escadrons à Cold Lake, à Bagotville et à Ottawa. Pour ce qui était de l'entraînement aux tactiques de combat et aux armes, la Force mobile était responsable du Centre d'entraînement au combat (y compris l'École des armes de combat) à la BFC Gagetown.
Le 2 septembre 1975, le 10e Groupement aérien tactique a été transféré au Commandement aéérien, tout en demeurant sous le contrôle opéérationnel de la Force mobile. Le 1er Groupement de combat et le 5e Groupement de combat ont été rebaptisés et désignés sous le nom de 1er Groupe-brigade du Canada et 5e Groupe-Brigade du Canada, respectivement, le 8 septembre 1977. En même temps, le Régiment aéroportéé du Canada a quitté Edmonton pour s'installer à Petawawa où il allait faire partie de la toute nouvelle Force d'opérations spéciales de la Force mobile. En 1989, la 1re Division canadienne a été mise sur pied et placée sous l'autorité de la Force mobile. Conservant son quartier général à la BFC Kingston, la Force mobile maintenait la 1re Division canadienne comme quartier général divisionnaire << en attente >>, c'est-à-dire apte à être mobilisé en cas d'urgence civile ou militaire.
En 1990, les bases des Forces canadiennes à Toronto et à Chatham (Nouveau-Brunswick) ont été transférées du Commandement aérien à la Force mobile.
