The series consists of general material on Cynthia Scott's career as a filmmaker. The first accrual of files includes her curriculum vitae, material on a conference on women in cinema, files on women filmmakers at the National Film Board, speeches by National Film Board producer Kathleen Shannon, and material on an actors' workshop. Arranged alphabetically.

Additional records include copies of National Film Board documents relating to administrative matters, and biographical and publicity material on Scott. There are ideas files kept by Scott containing notes and research material documenting themes and subjects she thought to develop as film projects; included is a letter, 1980, from the author Alice Munro, discussing the adaptation of her prose for film. Personal memorabilia includes a cartoon of Scott's Oscar for 'Flamenco at 5:15', by Gerald [Budner]. Also included are tributes to Gloria Demers (1941-1989), who worked with Scott as a researcher and writer. There are files documenting Scott's participation in international film festivals as a member of the jury, including Tampere, Finland (1996) and Sao Paulo, Brazil (1997). The files also contain records of her participation at conferences discussing the role of women in cinema in the 1990s.
