André Bissonnette was elected to the House of Commons in the general election of 1984, as a conservative representing Saint-Jean, Quebec. He was appointed Minister of State for Small Business under the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion, and sworn to the Privy Council, 17 September 1984. He was appointed Minister of State for Transport 30 June, 1986 and resigned his portfolio on 18 January 1987.
