Centre for the Study of Inflation and Productivity (Canada) : The Centre for Study on Inflation and Productivity was established in June 1978 as an agency to monitor price and income developments. The need for such an agency was a result of the federal-provincial First Ministers' Conference on the Economy in February 1978. The Centre was created by the Council for a two-year period as a reference under section 10 of the ECC act. On March 2, 1979, a new inflation-monitoring agency, the National Commission on Inflation was formed by the Minister of Finance. With the announcement of this new agency, the Centre for Study on Inflation and Productivity began to wind down its activities and many of the Centre's staff and programs were transferred to the new Commission. 1979 ECC annual report
