Shearer, Brodie 1911- : Brodie Shearer was born in Montreal in 1911 and studied at Sir George Williams University and then with Adam Sherriff Scott. In 1942 he enrolled in classes with Herman Heimlich. He began exhibiting his work in 1947 and branched out into metal sculpture in 1952. He taught at the Ottawa School of Art for 12 years. He is a member of the Sculpture Society of Canada, Canadian Artists' Representation, the Ottawa Watercolour Society and the Ottawa Network of Sculptors. Shearer published a book in 1987 entitled Making sense of modern art: a new approach to art experience.
