The second program in a four-part series on Canadian film reviews feature films produced between 1961 and 1966. Interviews, excerpts and commentary explore a variety of styles, subjects and genres and the beginnings of international acclaim for Canadian features. Wendy Michener interviews filmmakers Don Owen and Claude Jutra about their experiences, approaches and themes. Host Don Gould comments on failures and successes among approximately 30 Canadian features to date; the gap between filmmakers and audiences; the search for identity among English Canadians; recurring themes and symbols in French-Canadian films; and aspects of French culture that encourage filmmaking. 1. Audio aircheck of a television broadcast.~2. Special acknowledgment was given to the National Film Board of Canada in the preparation of this series.~3. "Moontrap" is shown on screen as a 1964 production, although it is listed as "The Moontrap" with a 1963 production date by Peter Morris in "The Film Companion". The French title is "Pour la suite du monde".~4. The production date of "Le festin des morts" is 1964 according to D.J. Turner of the National Archives, although Morris lists it as 1965 as on screen.
