Canada. Treasury Board. Office of the President : The position of President of the Treasury Board was created in 1966 as the Minister of the Privy Council who presided as Chair of the Treasury Board as a Statutory Committee of the Privy Council and who was the minister responsible for the Treasury Board Secretariat as a separate department of the federal government (and, between 1978 and 1993, for the Office of the Comptroller General, a second secretariat with the status of a Department of Government). The Office of the President supports the incumbent in his capacity as institutional head of the Secretariat.
