Sub-series consists of decisions made by the Treasury Board from 1965 onwards on departmental submissions for program expenditure, or on administrative, personnel or other authorities that the Board is empowered to grant. The decisions are arranged in numerical order by submission number. They generally include all documentation (correspondence, memoranda, reports and so on) relevant to the submission.

Beginning in 1976 (through 1988), the decision files have been microfilmed by Treasury Board; thus, this series includes both paper and fiche copies of the same records. Decision files more than 20 years old are subject to the Access to Information and Privacy Acts. Records less than 20 years old are cabinet documents and, as such, are excluded from the provisions of the access legislation.

For decisions between 1965-1996, if the submission number is not known, the researcher can consult finding aid 55-72 for the Numerical index sub-series (R776-41-8), which is organized by year and federal institution. The index itself includes the first page of each submission for that year. By noting the appropriate submission number in the index, you can then consult finding aid 55-19 to identify the container with the complete decision file.
