The series consists of files relating to Sydney Newman's career with ABC Television in England, 1958-1962, along with a small amount of later material relating to his former employer. Included are articles by Newman, clippings, correspondence and memoranda, notes, publicity material, a report, a script by Harold Pinter, a speech, and material on a study of "Armchair Theatre". Among the correspondents are Ted Kotcheff 1958; Nathan Cohen 1958, 1960, 1962; Silvio Narizzano, Ron Weyman, Robert Allan, Bernard Slade, Charles Israel, Arthur Hailey, Esse Ljungh, Ted Kotcheff, Hye Bossin, Arthur Elton 1959; David Greene 1959-1960; Ralph Ellis 1959, 1961; Paul Almond 1959, 1961-1962; Peter Luke, Ernie Bushnell, David Pressman, Anna Cameron, Mordecai Richler 1960; Basil Coleman, Leonard White, Tony Van Bridge 1961; Arthur Hailey 1961-1962; and Bernard Braden, Ronald Hambleton, George Dunning, Arnold Wesker, Max Cohen, Leo Orenstein, Patrick Macnee, Julian Roffman, James MacTaggart 1962.
