The Livestock and Poultry Division worked to increase efficiency and effectiveness in marketing red meats and poultry products in order to provide producers with a fair financial return and consumers with acceptable products. The Division developed and maintained programs relating to the grading of beef, pork, veal and lamb. It upheld the quality and other standards for shell eggs, egg products and eviscerated poultry. It also registered the plants producing these products, and monitored their grading and packaging operations.
This accession consists of Divisional administrative records. Subjects include meetings, international relations, liaison with other federal institutions, relations with producer associations, imports and exports, and grading.
