The fonds consists of material collected and created by R.A. Jamieson while pursuing his hobby of philately. The records consist of correspondence, early philatelic publications, bogus promotional labels, Samuel Allan Taylor items, clippings, and a philatelic census.

Jamieson, R. A. (Raymond A.), 1895-1992 : Raymond A. Jamieson (R.A.) was born in Almonte, Ontario, in 1895, and died there in 1992. He attended the Almonte public and high school before moving to Toronto to attend the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall. Mr. Jamieson returned to Almonte to practice law as his grandfather and father did. Jamieson collected stamps off and on until 1938 when he began to collect regularly. His collection focused on several areas of philately, Royal Train of 1939, plate blocks, stampless covers such as money-letters, as well as Canadian and United States forgeries and locals. He also collected early Canadian philatelic literature, particularily those of S. Allan Taylor, and literature of early Canadian philatelic societies. He wrote articles for BNA Topics, Popular Stamps, Weekly Philatelic Gossip, Stamps, and Maple Leaves. His large philatelic literature collection was given to the former National Postal Museum, and is now part of the Canadian Postal Archives. BNA Topics, vol. 12, no. 1, Jan. 1955.
