The item is a journal kept by Dr.Robert Menzie while stationed at the Siberian Expeditionary Force Hospital Unit. Canadian troops were sent to Russian Siberia to help prevent German penetration east of the Urals. Troops were stationed in Omsk, Vladivostok and Tomsk. They had their own Postal Corps with regular mailings. The hospital unit was advancing from Vladivostok to Omsk when this journal was written. The daily journal includes regular entries by Dr. Robert Menzie about the weather, state of men, hospital, and mail deliveries. Dr. Menzie details the delivery of supplies, and receipt of mail for Canadians and British troops. The entries date from December 1918 to May 1919.
