Sub-sub-series consists of notebooks and diaries compiled mainly by Major D.L. McKeand while on the Eastern Arctic Patrol for the periods 1921-1922 and 1932-1944. The fourteen notebooks and fourteen daily diaries provide considerable descriptive detail on ports of call, conversations with Eskimos, traders, missionaries, scientists, doctors, and government officials, and discussions of a variety of issues relating to the administration of the North. Three other individuals, J.G. Wright, S.J. Bailey, and Alexander Stevenson, authored daily journals for the period from 1945 to 1948. J.G. Wright's daily diary of 1947 includes details on the wreck of the S.S. "Nascopie" off Cape Dorset on 21 July 1947.
