The same file jackets were used with the same sequential numbering system. At some date, however, these files were removed from the Central Registry Office and administered separately (perhaps in a divisional or sectional sub-registry office). These files deal mainly with the period 1897 to 1910 and were originally created by and brought forward from the Timber, Mines, Grazing and Irrigation Branch and the Mining Lands and Yukon Branch. The files contain applications for the purchase or leasing of land for agricultural, timber, mining, sawmilling, construction, and water- front purposes in the Yukon Territory. In effect, the series documents many of the land transactions occurring in the wake of the Klondike Gold Rush.
