Sub-sub-series consists of quartz mining claim ledgers for Mayo District. Each mining ledger contains an entry for individual claims registered in the district to which that book applies. According to departmental policy the entries were to contain all the grants issued and all subsequent transactions affecting the title of the claims. Separate books were kept as required under the Quartz and Placer Acts. The ledgers record entries for each mining claim on numbered pages. The name of the claim and all pertinent information about that claim such as description, a column for instrument number, date recorded and the person to whom the claim was granted or assigned is included. In some instances more than one claim is recorded on a single page.

(Paper) Finding aid 85-32 is related to the card indexes described in sub-series RG85-A-1-d (MIKAN 135005). These cards provide access to quartz and placer claims by name of each claim, name of the applicant, and file number within the Mining Lands and Yukon system. An additional set of cards cross-references the claims and applicants to the appropriate ledger and page number. 85-32
