Sub-series consists of records created and maintained by the lockmaster at Nicholson's, on the Rideau Canal. Records include statements of rents received, 1854-1906; weekly progress reports on work and repairs, 1874-1914; book of way passes, 1903-1915; register of water levels, 1912-1922; and lockmaster's journals, 1837-1936.

Canada. Dept. of Railways and Canals. Lockmaster (Nicholson's, Ont.) : The lockmaster at Nicholson's on the Rideau Canal was in direct charge of the lock station and reported to the Superintending Engineer of the Rideau Canal. The lockmaster enforced canal regulations, compiled statistics, supervised labourers, and prepared journals and reports. RG43 General Inventory
