Accession consists of sound recordings of radio broadcasts and interviews prepared for broadcast, as well as oral history interviews about the history of Canadian radio conducted as research material for the book Signing on the birth of radio in Canada; also included are correspondence, manuscripts, printed material and photographs documenting Bill McNeil's career as a broadcaster and writer.
Among the radio series represented are Voice of the Pioneer and Fresh Air.
The textual records consist of correspondence and memoranda largely relating to the CBC and to publishing; manuscripts for a projected book on Cape Breton as well as a manuscripts of a book review and a speech; a scrapbook relating to McNeil's book 'Voice of the Pioneer'; clippings and publicity material; and memorabilia including a compilation of recipes from the radio programme 'Fresh Air' and a booklet of skit material written by Sergeant E.G. Charter for 'The Dumbells' ca. 1917.
Accession consists of some CBC publicity photos of radio broadcast Fresh Air, ca. 1980's, portraits include Alan Millar and Cyril Strange; slides of his book signing "Voice of the pioneer", Toronto, On., 1979, portraits include Pauline McGibbon, Lloyd Robertson and Roland Michener; some of his interview sessions for his book, photos taken by Robert C. Ragsdale; passport and colour portraits of Bill McNeil, ca. 1960-1980.
