Sub-sub-series consists of correspondence, memoranda and reports to and from the Office of Director of the Geological Survey of Canada for the years 1863-1864, 1870, 1874-1882. Some of the outgoing correspondence is duplicated in the Director's Letterbooks, other documents are copies of Secretary of State and Colonial Secretary's Office records which pertain to the Geological Survey. A large amount of the records are originals not available in any other source. The files are arranged in numerical order based on the original Department of the Interior docket system. The file list indicates the subjects of the dockets. Subsequent file numbers were added by the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources, the Geological Survey and finally Energy, Mines and Resources. (RG45, Vols. 292-294, files 1 to 20)
