Sub-series consists of a red leather bound album entitled "The Canadian Legation in Japan" submitted by Herbert Marler to the Secretary of State for External Affairs in 1929. Sir Herbert Meredith Marler, was a member of the House of Commons 1921-1925. He was appointed as the first Canadian Minister to Japan, on 11 January 1929 where he served until 1936. The album contains recommendations on the organization of the new post of Canadian Minister to Japan, the plan of preparatory operations and illustrations of various rooms in the Minister's new residence.
