The series consists of a scrapbook kept by Franz Johnston containing correspondence, exhibition catalogues, clippings, photographs, reproductions of his artwork, and other material. Included are letters from Eric Brown 1920, the Winnipeg Sketch Club 1924, W.B. Wood of the Winnipeg Grenadiers 1924, Arthur Heming 1934, Augustus Bridle 1936, Fred Haines for the Canadian National Exhibition 1936, Scythes and Company 1938, and Sir Ellsworth Flavelle 1944, as well as a copy of a letter from Winston Churchill 1943. Also included is a typescript essay on Johnston by J.E. Middleton, a manuscript story by Johnston, the catalogue for the Group of Seven's first exhibition 1920, and ten photographs of Johnston.
