A presentation of the issues which precipitated the Korean conflict, a survey of Asia's struggle for nationhood, and its resolve to identify and solve its problems. This documentary is a compilation of newsreel footage. A speech is being made by Trygve Lie. North Koreans cheer a Soviet Army detachment as it marches through their streets. A statue of Mahatma Ghandi is unrobed at its first showing. Sukharno is being cheered as his motorcade weaves through swarming crowds. Sukharno and Nehru greet each other at a meeting - their wives are present. A Siamese king is paraded in traditional style and is then shown being whisked away in a limosine. Mao Tse Tung reviews troops of the Chinese People's Republican Army. Jawaharlal Nehru is greeted by his daughter, Indira, aboard a vessel. Medium shots of Koreans cheering American troops rolling through streets in armoured cars; long shots and medium shots of Japanese street rioting, and of the All-Asian Conference of 1947 in New Delhi; medium shots of the British Commonwealth Ministers in Ceylon - especially that of Lester B. Pearon, medium shots and close ups of starving Asians. <11mn>
