A primetime arts series with host Adrienne Clarkson.~SONG OF SUMMER is a docu-drama about the last years of composer Frederick Delius. It is the story of how Eric Fenby, as a young man of 22 from the east coast of Yorkshire, went to France to become the amanuensis to British composer Frederick Delius. Delius, a modern English composer, was blind and paralysed, but still wished to compose music. Reading about his plight in the newspaper, the young Fenby, a talented musician who was mostly self-taught, wrote to Delius offering his services. From 1928 to 1934, Fenby was literally Delius' eyes, ears and hands as the composer dictated to him his final works. The film is based on Fenby's book "Delius As I Knew Him". After the program Clarkson interviews Fenby who at 83 years old still lives in Scarborough in east Yorkshire. Fenby recalls his years living with Delius and his wife and the contribution he made to the preservation of Delius' music.~AND THEN THERE WERE SEVEN is a half hour docu-drama on the life and work of A.J. Casson, the last surviving member of the Group of Seven. Based on an interview with Casson, the film follows the artist's career from the 1920s and his first encounter with Frank Carmichael, his mentor, teacher and founding member of the Group of Seven. <2h>
