The records include central registry files, Eskimo District files, Eskimo record books, and a report about an experimental housing project., This sub-series also consists of American aeronautical charts mainly showing Canada.

Canada. Northern Administration Branch : Upon its establishment as a division of the Northern Administration and Lands Branch in 1951, the Northern Administration Division was divided into five components: Public Services; Arctic Services; Development Services; Conservation and Management Services; and Education and Welfare Services. The Information Service of the Branch was also located within the Education and Welfare Service. Although it continued to monitor and regulate the northern activities of religious, commercial, philanthropic, and other agencies and individuals, and to sponsor resource development by the private sector, the Branch also actively intervened in the North with its own building, construction, and social programmes. In effect, it laid out the social and economic structures -- schools, hospitals, housing, roads, bridges, airports -- that would encourage private industry to undertake northern expansion and development. At the same time the Branch tried to protect the Inuit and the northern environment from possible abuses that unbridled resource exploitation could cause. The files in this registry series reflect these developments from, despite the inclusive dates, the years immediately following the Second World War until 1971. RG85 General Inventory
