Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Operations Department and its predecessors. The records cover most aspects of the Corporation's activities through the first three decades of its existence and are, at present, probably the most significant series of records in the group. Among the records are files concerning budget variances, routes, property, equipment, accidents, plans and policy, personnel and labour relations, passenger and cargo services, studies, agreements, organization and the reading files of the Vice-President, Operations.

Air Canada. Operations Department : The Operations Department had the following responsibilities: "to provide a safe, efficient and economically-sound operation of the Company's aircraft on established routes and schedules; to forecast operational requirements for undertaking proposed new services and to procure new aircraft required thereof; to formulate, establish and administer departmental policies consistent with overall Company policy." In 1967 the department was headed by Vice-President D.C. Tennant. Condensed History of the Company. Unpublished draft in the possession of the RG70 archivist, prepared for/by Air Canada, Office of the President, Montreal, Que., 15 May 1967, p.3.
