Sub-series consists records created and/or maintained in the Office of the Dominion Astronomer. The sub-series includes accounts, magazine subscriptions, equipment orders, draft speeches, reports, and correspondence.

This sub-series also contains a variety of photographs from Carlyle Smith Beals who was a Dominion Astronomer. The photographs include views of the construction of a radio telescope in Penticton, B.C.; astronomical devices at the Dominion Observatory, Ottawa, and views of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, Victoria, B.C.. There are also photographs of various meetings and receptions (1920-1960). This accession includes graphs and plates of spectra and astronomical phenomena possibly used by Carlyle Smith Beals.
